These river trekking shoes were created by incorporating Montbell's unique ideas into tabi (Japanese split-toe socks) and waraji (straw sandals). The shoelaces pull from the heel side, similar to waraji, to achieve an excellent fit. The inside of the toe box is split like tabi, preventing your feet from slipping and providing a comfortable fit. The outsole uses polypropylene felt.
