In 1978, Joseph Szabo was invited by two high school students he taught to attend a Rolling Stones concert at JFK Stadium in Philadelphia. Sensing a photographic opportunity, Szabo accompanied them, bringing three 35mm cameras and plenty of black and white film.
Szabo photographed the approximately 90,000 Rolling Stones fans who gathered at the stadium, capturing them drinking, kissing, smoking, dancing, and hanging out.
He photographed the unguarded moments of young subjects, captivated by the music, alcohol, and community, as they were absorbed and abandoned within the sublimity of a rock and roll gig.
