This is a Tsumugi silk kimono from the renowned Oson Kobo workshop in Mutsu and Yamagata, named Ran Ichimatsu (Scattered Checkered Pattern).

The subtle color variations in chestnut brown and light leek green, which change slightly depending on the light, are a characteristic of Oson's work.

This is a woven kimono that appears dyed, featuring a unique luster and softness distinct from traditional Tsumugi. The Yuragi-ori (fluctuating weave) material is characterized by its rich expression, with shades and tones emerging depending on the angle, a hallmark of Oson Kobo's craftsmanship.

Purchased and tailored at an exhibition by a long-established kimono dealer in Kobe.

The fabric alone cost over 200,000 yen.

Furthermore, Oson's current pieces are rarely found online.

Tailoring costs, lining, and hem fabric have also increased in price.
