Ikuo Hirayama (1930-2009) was a Japanese painter from Hiroshima Prefecture, famous for his works themed around the Silk Road. He is an Emeritus Professor at Tokyo University of the Arts.
As a UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador, he also dedicated himself to cultural heritage preservation activities. Driven by his experience of the atomic bombing, he advocated for peace and initiated movements such as the Red Cross for Cultural Heritage. He received the Order of Culture (1998) and is highly acclaimed both domestically and internationally.
The frame has some minor scratches.
While some of the artworks have slight foxing, considering they were published in 1994, the condition is good and clean, making this a rare item.
As it comes with a frame, you can enjoy swapping out the 10 included artworks.
Thank you for looking.
