Aynsley was founded in 1775 by John Aynsley in Staffordshire, England, one of the world's premier regions for fine china production.  The Pembroke pattern became one of Aynsley's signature designs during the late 20th century. It was inspired by 18th-century chinoiserie art, featuring:  * Brightly colored exotic birds  * Large peonies and flowers  * Twisting branches  * Rich hand-applied gold trim  * Fluted (ribbed) borders  Although the backstamp mentions an 18th Century Design, these particular plates were likely produced between the 1970s and early 2000s. They reproduce an older decorative style rather than being antique pieces.
