Department 56 J. LYTES COAL MERCHANT Heritage Dickens' Village Series Retired!  Introduced May 1997 Retired December 1999  Part of the Dickens Village Series. Porcelain, depicting a tall building housing a coal merchant. Coverings for the upper windows are metal plates hinged to the window instead of glass panes with light features. Metal gutter pipe on the side of the house.  I don't think this item was ever displayed. The box has some damage that doesn't affect the function or house.  I am not a reseller — just part of the clean-up crew!  In the 1980s and '90s, my relatives were avid Department 56 collectors.  These little houses & accessories were opened to take pictures but I don't think they were ever displayed.  Each piece comes with its original box (most boxes show signs of long-term attic negotiations), and everything you see in the photos is included.  Yes! When possible, I combine shipping!
