Vintage Signed Muñeca Limé Dominican Faceless Doll - Handcrafted Terracotta Folk

Beautiful, authentic vintage Muñeca Limé (Dominican Faceless Doll), handcrafted from native red terracotta clay.  This iconic Caribbean folk art piece features a highly glossy glazed finish on the traditional dress, a stylized sun hat, and a signature side bun.  The faceless design is a celebrated national cultural symbol of the Dominican Republic, a beautiful representation of the blended, diverse heritage of the Dominican people without focusing on any single race. We believe it was created by artist Liliaa Mera in 1981.   This particular figurine is a verified collector's piece featuring the highly sought-after, authentic handwritten Limé / Santiago, R.D. signature layout in black artist ink on the raw, unglazed underside of the hollow skirt base.  Excellent vintage condition. Some cracking present in the glaze of the white dress.     Be advised... color may vary from images due to lighting.
