Ukiyo-e Print - Sharaku: Umegawa and Chubei's Journey (approx. 38x25cm, unframed)
This is a Ukiyo-e woodblock print by Toshusai Sharaku. It was part of my family's collection from their later years. Many of the pieces were hanging scrolls displayed in the tokonoma (alcove) and decorative alcoves of the sitting room and adjoining room. The framed paintings were Japanese paintings that adorned the transom and the wall opposite the entrance from the 1950s. This Ukiyo-e print, perhaps because there was no place to display it after purchase, remained untouched next to a bookshelf in the study. For the purpose of photography, I removed the print from the frame, and found a work explanation tucked behind it. This is the 10th image. Images 4 and 5 show the back of the print, with Oedo Mokuhansha, Carved by Endo, Printed by Itakura indicated. Images 6 onwards are close-up shots of parts of the print. Please note that the frame is not included. It will be listed separately later. If you are interested, please purchase it as a set.
