The exterior consists of a cardboard slipcase and a cloth-covered case.
While the cardboard slipcase shows some signs of wear, the interior is in excellent condition. The charm of ukiyo-e cannot be fully conveyed in small prints.
This is a large-format volume with a powerful presence.
Highly recommended for those who cannot easily visit museums.
Considered one of the Six Great Ukiyo-e Masters, alongside Suzuki Harunobu, Kitagawa Utamaro, Toshusai Sharaku, Katsushika Hokusai, and Utagawa Hiroshige.
★Kiyonaga
Torii Kiyonaga was an ukiyo-e artist of the Edo period.
He was the 4th generation head of the Torii school.
He created his own unique style based on solid sketches derived from direct observation,
and dominated the world of bijin-ga (pictures of beautiful women) during the Tenmei era.
Kiyonaga is said to be the first to realistically depict Edo landscapes in the background of his bijin-ga.
In contrast to Harunobu's delicate and slender depictions of beautiful women,
Kiyonaga is known for his healthy female figures with an eight-head proportion and a solid build.
He achieved great popularity with his masterpiece series such as Minami Jyuniko (Twelve Months of Beauties), Fuzoku Azuma no Nishiki (Eastern Brocade of Manners and Customs),
and Tosei Yūri Bijin Awase (A Collection of Contemporary Courtesan Beauties).
He also created large-format actor prints, incorporating scenes from plays and stage settings,
leaving behind even more realistic works.
