What is Kurotomesode?
Kurotomesode is the highest-ranking kimono for married women and is considered the most formal Japanese attire.
It is characterized by its black fabric and five crests (one on the back, and one each on the back of both sleeves and both chests). The pattern is a Eba-moyō (picture-like pattern) applied only to the hem.

Hiyoku Construction
Hiyoku refers to a tailoring method where a fabric called hiyoku-ji is sewn to the lining of a Tomesode, creating the appearance of wearing a white kimono underneath.
