Spode Buttercup Saucer 2-7873 Earthenware Yellow Floral Old Backstamp 1924-1992

Vintage Spode Buttercup 2/7873 Saucer. Pre-Owned.  This replacement saucer is from the large and old Buttercup Collection from Spode.   This pattern was active from 1924 - 1992.  The pattern # is 2/7873.  The description of the pattern is Earthenware, Yellow Flowers, Blue Flowers, Brown Decor.  This saucer has the older back stamp.  The back stamp on this saucer was used from 1920 - 1957.  It is shown in the pictures and is in Brown Ink, Has the Pattern # 2/7873, Says Copeland Spode England Buttercup.    The saucer has the Basket Work Chelsea Shape.  This shape actually arrived from 2 different shapes merged into one.  The Chelsea Shape has a deeply fluted rim that was created at the Chelsea factory in London.  The embossed wicker weave design is from the Spode factory that was created in the early 1800's.  They merged the two designs into what is known as the Basket Work Chelsea Shape today.    The saucer measures 5 1/2 across .  This saucer is pre-owned and is in excellent vintage condition.  There are no cracks or chips.  There are two marks that looks like the beginning of crazing on the back.  The colors are very vibrant.
