This piece features clean lapidary work and a very thick, sturdy silver shank.  The channel inlay is a hallmark technique found in Southwestern and Native American jewelry. Silversmiths meticulously cut the shell into precise tiles to fit tightly between the sterling silver dividers before polishing the entire surface smooth. The spiny oyster shell displays a white, fibrous and cloudy growth pattern running vertically through the center and left tiles.  Also, the material beautifully transitions between a deep tomato red, a softer milky orange-pink and white. This gradient effect is the signature trait of the spiny oyster's shell.
