SIERRA DESIGNS is an American outdoor brand. In 1965, George Marks and Bob Swanson founded Sierra Designs in California, USA.
Leveraging their outdoor experience, George Marks and Bob Swanson created various high-performance outdoor products with their ideas and technology.
In 1968, they released the Mountain Parka using their signature 60/40 fabric (commonly known as Rokuyon). This material uses approximately 60% cotton for the weft and approximately 40% nylon for the warp, offering increased breathability and strength compared to 100% cotton or 100% nylon.
In 2006, MT RAINIER DESIGN, a label specializing in custom-order items, was launched to create products using 60/40 cloth based on Japanese planning.
