Description
Super cool, Japanese made, vintage hexagonal bamboo hanging lantern. The lantern has 6 bamboo panels and each one features scenes of people working, farming, fishing, weaving. The scenes are painted on thin bamboo strips in gray, black, and white. The panels are attached to a hexagon shaped frame at the top and bottom. Inside are smaller strips with pieces of bamboo on the ends as weights. It is a beautiful piece and very unusual. The entire piece collapses flat when not hung for storage. Approximately 15 1/2” in height and 9 1/2 across at the top. The panels are 3 7/8 wide and 13 1/2 long. Two of the panels has a tiny bit of their string come a little loose on the edges. Please see pics!
