Vintage 1980s Chinese Canton enamel on copper hexagonal vase in a rare Famille Rose colorway. Lovely baluster shape with 6 hand-painted panels - alternating pink peonies, cherry blossoms, little birds and butterflies on a soft mint green ground. White cartouches outlined in brown, with copper trim at the rim and edges showing a nice aged patina. The interior is also enameled in mint green. Marked on the bottom with original foil sticker HAND MADE IN CHINA. A perfect Chinoiserie bud vase for cottagecore, grandmillennial, or eclectic decor. Looks great alone or in a pair with brass. Details: • Material: Solid copper body with hand-painted vitreous enamel - Canton enamel • Dimensions: 7.25 H x ∼3.25 W at shoulder (from your tape measure), hexagonal top ∼2.75 across • Origin: China, export ware • Era: Vintage 1980s (1970s-1980s) • Weight: Light - copper is thin-formed, not heavy brass Condition: Good vintage condition with age-appropriate wear. Copper rim has patina and minor wear. Enamel has small craquelure throughout which is normal. One notable chip / enamel loss on one panel about 1/2 showing dark copper underneath - see photo 4. No dents, holds water if you use a liner but recommended for dry display due to age. Price reflects chip.
