From an old family's collection: Wajima-nuri lacquered lidded container, Chinkin technique, Meiji period
Purchased at an antique shop.
It was used as a storage container, but has not been used recently
and has been kept stored away.
For those who are interested.
The following is information from the shop owner.
☑︎ Wajima-nuri lacquerware
☑︎ Covered container
☑︎ Meiji period
☑︎ Used to serve food during celebrations
☑︎ From the storage of an old family home
☑︎ 25×25×12cm
This is a gorgeous piece suitable for celebrations.
The intricate gold inlay technique is also wonderful,
and you can sense the solid craftsmanship of the time.
It came in a box, but due to age, the lid has warped
and does not close properly.
Of course, it can be used as a storage container,
but I think it would also be lovely for table coordination,
filled with Osechi (New Year's food) or other dishes,
just as it was used in those days.
