Wood carving, Hyottoko, Sorafuki, Kagura mask, Kyogen mask, Noh mask, Festival, Zanname
Thank you for looking.
This is a carved Kagura mask.
It is likely a type of folk mask or Kyogen mask.
Measurements are approximate as taken by an amateur: 22 cm vertically.
The size is 16.5 cm horizontally.
The name Yokota is carved in the center on the back of the mask.
I purchased this about 30 years ago, used it once, and have kept it carefully stored ever since.
I believe it is of excellent quality and would be suitable for various occasions such as stage performances, floats, or festivals.
Among the Hyottoko masks currently listed on Mercari, I believe this one has superior quality and coloring.
As each mask is individually handcrafted, no two are exactly alike, making this a very precious item.
