Korea Goryeo Celadon Inlaid Orchid Matcha Bowl Sanguk Pottery Kim Jeong

I visited a pottery village in Korea about 30 years ago and was so moved by the beauty and artistry of the Goryeo celadon inlay demonstration that I purchased this piece.

The thin, delicate body is adorned with intricate inlaid orchid flowers, and the red stamen dots create an artistic contrast compared to other traditional patterned works. The fine crackles (craquelure) on the back are also delicate and beautiful.

I would like to pass this on to someone before it breaks.

I used it a few times in the past to drink matcha, so the matcha has seeped into the craquelure, causing a slight brownish discoloration in the area where the matcha was.

The box is somewhat rough compared to Japanese paulownia wood boxes, but the lid closes properly.
