Found during a clean-out of my parents' storage. Unused and in beautiful condition.
About Tsuishu (vermilion-lacquered) Natsume: In the tea ceremony, the natsume is handled with a fukusa (silk cloth). As it is used over time, the vermilion lacquer gradually wears away, revealing the black lacquer underneath and developing a beautiful,飴色 (ame-iro - caramel-colored) patina. This transformation requires a long time and many uses, resulting in a beautiful black, caramel hue.
Why not try using it yourself and developing its unique character?
* Made in China. Please note that the interior lacquer work may be rougher compared to Japanese craftsmanship. Those seeking perfection should refrain from purchasing.
