Description
Vintage solid brass ashtray from USS Cone DD-866 United States Navy. The legendary gearing class destroyer was commissioned right after WWII, in Aug 1945. She served 37+ years deployment during heart of the cold war, Cuban missile crisis and Vietnam. Officially decommissioned in 1982. The ashtray is quite heavy, to withstand rolling motion of sea life. It's in the condition that I found it, with a lovely natural unpolished patina. It still retains a beautiful gold coloring as well as authentic surface wear; evidence of decades of naval exposure. What a fantastic example of history!
