Vintage African Yoruba Beaded Diviner Sash - Nigerian Tribal Art Wall Hanging with Black Serpent and Ancestral Mask Motifs Vintage Yoruba beaded sash from Nigeria featuring dense hand-applied glass seed beadwork, natural cowrie-shell edging, and bold figural and geometric imagery. This substantial 55 textile features stylized faces in vivid blue and red, diamond motifs, and a dramatic elongated black serpent worked through the center. Thousands of small beads are stitched over an aged textile backing, with individually attached cowrie shells lining both sides. A beaded loop at the top allows the sash to hang vertically, making it especially striking as African textile wall art. Yoruba beadwork has a long association with status, spirituality, and ceremonial regalia; however, without provenance, the exact age and original ceremonial use of this individual piece cannot be confirmed. Origin: Nigeria Culture/Style: Yoruba Materials: Glass seed beads, textile backing, cowrie shells Motifs: Stylized faces, serpent, geometric diamonds Total length: 55 Width: 5.5 Integrated beaded hanging loop Condition: Excellent vintage condition with no major bead loss; backing shows age-related patina consistent with vintage handwork A coordinating Yoruba beaded sash is also available separately in my shop and displays beautifully alongside this piece as a pair.
