Vintage Handpainted Chinese Scholar Satsuma-style Porcelain Candlesticks

Beautiful matching pair of vintage Chinese hand-painted porcelain candlestick holders, sold together as a set.  Each tall candlestick is richly decorated against a glossy black ground with colorful flowers, birds, bamboo, landscape scenes, traditional Chinese figures, intricate geometric borders, and extensive raised gold-tone detailing. The elaborate decoration continues around the entire body and pedestal base, making the pair especially striking from every angle.  The undersides bear red Chinese stamps reading 手繪瓷器, meaning “hand-painted porcelain ware,” along with Made in China stickers and printed decorative-use warnings.  An identical piece has been associated with United Wilson JUWC; however, these candlesticks themselves do not carry a confirmed United Wilson maker's mark, so the brand is listed as unknown.
