Description
This is an Emishi flute from the Negishi Shinobue Studio.

This model does not have the mouthpiece immediately below a node. It is recommended for those who find nodes bothersome or difficult to play around.

This is the natural pitch of the Emishi flute. (443-448Hz at 15°C)

This is a flute with ancient roots in the Tohoku region. It is said to have been used by the Emishi people and is believed to have been used for purposes such as burying the dead and memorial services. It is also thought to have been used to encourage those suffering from the loss of a loved one or illness. (There are many legends and tales about the Emishi people in the Tohoku region.)

It is also said to be the flute used by Minamoto no Yoshitsune in his childhood (Ushiwakamaru).

It is said to have originated in South America, but the details are unclear.

The nodes of the bamboo are formed according to the purpose. (The law of nature.) In the case of the Emishi flute, when certain conditions are met, regardless of thickness, hardness, or length, the mouthpiece can be opened just below a node, and finger holes can be opened between nodes. At 15°C, if the tube itself is gently blown without blowing into it, it will be tuned to a G tube (standard Do-Re-Mi scale, six holes, three-tone pitch). (The frequency is slightly higher than modern music.)

From the Meiji to the early Showa period, small elementary schools in rural areas did not have organs. The Emishi flute was used to teach children songs (children's songs) and folk songs. I have heard stories from people who actually sang children's songs with the Emishi flute. They recall it with such joy that tears come to their eyes. They said the Emishi flute was easy to sing with.

I have been researching physics that utilizes the laws of nature for many years and can identify bamboo that meets the necessary conditions.

After the Great East Japan Earthquake of 3.11, this flute was revived to commemorate the deceased and to bring some comfort to those who are suffering.

Many festival flutes in the Tohoku region, such as the bayashi and kagura music used in festivals like the Akita Kanto Festival, Morioka Sansa Odori, and the bayashi and kagura of the inland areas of Akita, Iwate, and Yamagata prefectures, as well as the kagura of the coastal areas of Iwate prefecture, are based on the Emishi flute.

Thickness: Approximately 25.8 mm at the mouthpiece.
Length: Approximately 42.8 cm.
Mouthpiece size: Approximately 15 mm.
Bamboo hardness: 2 on a scale of 5.
Thickness: Normal.
