Thank you for viewing.
We are dedicated to creating instruments that play automatically, even without musical skill. Each chime is meticulously crafted, with careful selection of notes, materials, and precise measurements for tube length, cutting, and suspension points, all calculated using spreadsheets. The result is a rich, lingering resonance with exceptionally long sustain and well-balanced overtones.
The 3cm diameter stainless steel pipes produce a clear tone and powerful overtones, offering an overwhelmingly soothing sound.
The tuning is C# E F# A (or Mi So La Do in movable do). This creates a chord that, in movable do, is C6/E. While simple, this unique tuning was devised as it's rarely found in wind chimes and is my original creation. It possesses a beautiful resonance that is as captivating and timeless as the Westminster chime. Based on the impression of the sound, I've given it the nickname Fly Me to the Moon, after Frank Sinatra's famous song.
Wind Chime Trivia
Terminology
Support: The round plate from which the chimes are hung.
Striker: The weight that strikes the chimes.
Sail: The plate that catches the wind.
Common Tube Materials: Iron, Stainless Steel, Aluminum
Premium Materials: Copper, Bronze, Brass
Longer tubes produce lower notes, but the audible sound consists of the 2nd and 3rd harmonics. Therefore, the usable range is approximately two octaves around middle C on a piano. Even for the same note, longer chimes are more appealing due to their richer overtones.
Thicker tubes are more resistant to bending, resulting in higher pitches. For the same reason, thicker-walled tubes also produce higher pitches. However, both thicker and thicker-walled tubes offer longer resonance and richer overtones.
The position where the hole is drilled for hanging is crucial. Lower-priced products often have a uniform suspension point at the top, which hinders resonance and shortens sustain.
The height, weight, hardness, size, and shape of the striker, as well as the length of the string, and the size, weight, and shape of the sail, all influence the tone and sound production. Fine-tuning requires trial and error.
