Nagaregumo-saku Satsuma, Full Polish, 5 Sections, 16 Shaku 1 Sun, Rattan Grip, Unused Rod
This is a valuable, unused fishing rod made by Nagaregumo.
There is no deformation or cracking at the ferrule.
As it is unused since purchase, the rod's natural curve is within the range of natural bamboo.
This is, of course, a Kishu rod for fishing with a float.
While many fishing rods are listed at auction, it is common to find those where parts such as the mid-section or tip are not original, or have been repaired due to tip breakage.
Specifically, rods where the tip has been shortened due to breakage will have a different action.
Rods where the mid-section has been remade will be completely different from their original action.
Nagaregumo, like the previous generation Yamahiko, does not use a brand mark on the rod stopper, but the rod itself has a unique mark (joint mark ///) in addition to the brand mark.
On the Nagaregumo rod being exhibited, each part has:
A brand mark and joint /// mark from the handle to the mid-section.
A joint /// mark on the tip and rod stopper.
This is a completely original rod.
This can be confirmed in the photos.
The fishing rod being exhibited this time is finished with Nagaregumo's unique polished lacquer on all parts, including the tip, maintaining its valuable original action.
Nagaregumo (also known as: Ukaregoma, Kosshin, Asahifune)
The tip, mid-section, and joint wrapping are all finished with Nagaregumo's unique polished lacquer.
Rods made by Nagaregumo are valuable fishing rods that require a great deal of effort to produce.
Nagaregumo is a disciple of Gishinkan (Saobi), who follows the lineage of Kosyu and Getesaku, and is in the same school as Toho, Keishu, and Tesshinsai.
He is a very popular rod maker among fishing rod craftsmen.
Shiko and Gensaoji are the originators who established the foundation of Kishu fishing rods, and all Kishu rod makers trace their lineage back to these two great craftsmen.
Getesaku is a disciple of Shiko, but he also studied under Kosyu for a time.
Getesaku's lineage includes the DNA of Kosyu, and Nagaregumo strongly carries the DNA of Kosyu.
