Abu ABU Thread/Varnish Yellow with backing

This is a rod repair thread/varnish kit that ABU sold until the 1970s. It is labeled as an Emergency Kit, so I believe it was sold as an emergency repair item for when the thread frayed.

There are probably few ABU collectors who collect items like this, but as a hardcore collector, to the point of being considered eccentric, I kept even things like this. The catalog image is from Napp och Nytt 72, the 1972 Swedish catalog.

As time has passed, the varnish, which is an organic solvent, has completely dried out inside, but the thread might still be usable if you intend to use it. I believe it is unused with the backing card. The backing card has some tears, and the price label from when it was sold in Sweden is likely still attached. Calculating at 15 yen per 1 Swedish krona, the price at the time was 292 yen (for reference, an Ambassadeur 5000C De Luxe at the time cost 550 krona, which is 8250 yen). However, since you cannot buy an Ambassadeur 5000C De Luxe from that era for 8250 yen today, it is likely that it was a considerable purchase at the time.
