This is a Nakayama stone from the Kato Mine, mined, selected, and processed by Tanaka Whetstone Industry.
It is from the same mine as the famous Maruka stones.
With consideration for the environment, it is mined entirely by hand, without the use of any heavy machinery.
Uses: Ideal for sharpening woodworking tools (planes, chisels, etc.) and for the final finishing of Japanese knives.
The extremely fine texture allows you to experience the unique sharpening feel of Nakayama the moment you touch the blade to the stone.
