100% Pesticide-Free, Heirloom Island Chili Pepper Seedling
These are island chili pepper seedlings, grown in a location that has never used pesticides.
We received them from a pesticide-free farmer and have carefully cultivated them. Unlike varieties found at home centers, these are heirloom seeds, meaning you can save seeds from them.
They are characterized by their spiciness and a unique umami flavor not found in regular chili peppers, making them indispensable for Okinawan cuisine.
They are resistant to diseases, pests, and drought, requiring little effort and growing well with minimal care. As shown in the photos, they produce abundant fruit.
In our home, we find them invaluable for making Kōrēgūsu (Okinawan chili pepper and awamori pickle), and for use in Thai, Vietnamese, and Chinese dishes. Their uses are diverse, including Tom Yum Goong, Larb Gai, glass noodle salad, as a side for Khao Man Gai (chicken and rice), fresh spring rolls, Mapo Tofu, fragrant pan-fried fish, and Champuru. Of course, they can also be used as a substitute for regular chili peppers. If grown successfully, their umami can rival that of Chao Tian Jiao, a key ingredient for umami in Sichuan cuisine. We also supply restaurants, and they are well-received.
We ship one seedling at a time, starting with the largest ones, so the photos are just examples.
We can also accommodate shipping via services like Nekoposu. Please message us if you have this preference.
