MCM Otagiri Horse Sushi Dish – Graphic Black & White

Vintage Otagiri black and white horse trinket dish made in Japan, featuring graphic horse silhouettes on a matte black glaze with a modernist feel. This vintage Otagiri dish features a bold black glaze with white negative-space silhouettes of horses shown in active, natural poses—one grazing, one alert. The asymmetrical, softly rounded rectangular shape gives it a distinctly modern profile, while the high-contrast design keeps it graphic and eye-catching from any angle. Made in Japan in the 1970s, this piece reflects Otagiri’s crossover appeal between mid-century modern and Asian-influenced design. Though unmarked, the form, glaze, and imagery are consistent with Otagiri production from the period. It works well as a trinket dish, sushi plate, soap dish, or small serving dish, and fits seamlessly into MCM, black-and-white, western, or eclectic interiors.
