Vintage MCM Bentwood + Leather Tray with Gilt Motif (Toastmaster)

Authentic mid-century bentwood serving tray with a warm leather insert and gilt motif, originally made for Toastmaster’s Waffle Service line in the 1950s. This is an authentic mid-century modern bentwood tray manufactured for McGraw Electric Company’s Toastmaster Waffle Service line—an original 1950s piece with a warm leatherette center insert framed by a sculpted bentwood lip. The leatherette panel features a minimalist three-line gilt emblem—an abstract motif often described as stylized reeds or vertical fish-forms—classic to mid-century decorative language. Made by S.E. Overton Co., South Haven, Michigan, this style of bent plywood construction was used in higher-end serving pieces and is now well-collected for its simple lines and functional MCM design. Perfect for minimalists, warm woods, Japandi, Danish modern, and modernist interiors. The wood shows some expected vintage scuffing along the edges of the lip (see close-ups), but the piece remains structurally sound and overall in good vintage condition. SIZE • Length: 22.75 inches • Width: 14 inches • Height: 1 inch at the raised edge CONDITION Good vintage condition with light surface scuffing to the bentwood edges and expected age wear to the finish. Leatherette insert is clean and intact. Structurally solid with no warping. NPK(psh)
