The K1000 uses a mechanical shutter with battery power needed for the meter only, making it a highly desirable camera for film photography, photography students, collectors, and anyone wanting a dependable manual 35mm SLR setup. This camera has been tested for the listed basic functions, including shutter, light meter, and flash function. It comes with the desirable SMC Pentax-M 50mm f/1.7 lens, a sharp standard prime lens commonly used for portraits, everyday shooting, street photography, and learning manual film photography.
