The tanden, a concept historically emphasized in Japanese martial arts and performing arts, is central. Harumichi Hida was the first person in history to scientifically elucidate this concept of the tanden. Through the Hida-Style Strength Training he created, Master Hida developed superhuman physical strength and abilities, etching his name in history.

Harumichi Hida
Born in Yamanashi Prefecture in 1883 (Meiji 16). Although frail in his youth, he was inspired at the age of 18 to transform his own body. He created the Kawai-Style (Hida-Style) Strength Training by fusing Western physical training methods with the essence of Japanese martial arts: ki-power and tanden development methods. In 1956 (Showa 31), concerned for the future of humanity, he passed away after a complete fast. His activities had a profound impact not only on health methods but also on politics, economics, philosophy, religion, and other broad fields.

Ryoun Sasaki
Born in Tokyo in 1947 (Showa 22). From childhood, he studied various martial arts, Zen meditation, and yoga. Later, he learned of the existence of Hida-Style Strength Training and received instruction from a senior disciple of Master Harumichi Hida. As the director of the Tanden Research Institute, established in 1979 (Showa 54), he currently holds lectures and health guidance sessions throughout the country.
