[Product Description]
Neo-soul musician Jamila Woods presents her new album. Four years after her highly acclaimed previous work, her third album Water Made Us, co-executive produced with McClenney, is now released.

Chicago-based musician and poet Jamila Woods releases her new album Water Made Us on Jagjaguwar, her first since the acclaimed 2019 album LEGACY! LEGACY!. The album is co-executive produced by McClenney and Jamila Woods, and features Saba, duendita, and Peter CottonTale. The album title subtly quotes the words of the renowned Toni Morrison: All water has a perfect memory and is forever trying to get back to where it was. Here, memory, place, and the feeling of returning serve as pillars. In 2017's HEAVN, she found herself celebrating her community within the lineage of Black feminist organizing. In 2019's LEGACY! LEGACY!, she reframed her own life experiences through the enduring personas of iconic Black and Brown artists, but Water Made Us is a self-revealing work in a completely new way. The album began to take shape through her connection with LA-based producer McClenney, and the two collaborated to create each song from scratch. The resulting Water Made Us reveals a new side of Woods that she couldn't share in her previous works, making it her most personal album to date.
