Antique Sevres Style Porcelain Kidney Trinket Box Hand Painted Musical Trophy
Sevres style antique French
An exquisite 19th-century Sèvres-style porcelain trinket box, meticulously crafted in a soft kidney, or casket, shape. This piece is a beautiful 1800s Victorian-era tribute honoring famed 1700s royal French porcelain designs. The exterior lid showcases a soft kidney-shaped lid featuring a beautifully hand-painted 'Musical Trophy' scene. A coiled hunting horn rests gracefully on an open score of sheet music, delicately entwined with garlands of pink roses and fresh green foliage. The entire vignette is encased by an elegant, hand-applied gold laurel-leaf border against a white glaze. The clasp features a highly ornate fleur-de-lis thumbpiece clasp- a classic symbol of French royalty. When opened, the interior surprises with 2 separate hand-painted gilt laurel sprigs. The gilt-metal bands fit well against the porcelain contours held secure by a long 2-part tube hinge built directly into the brass mount and suffer no breaks. Condition: Excellent antique 3x2. No chips, cracks, or repairs. The hand-painted coloring is clear The original plaster adhesive shows normal antique seepage around the rims but remains structurally sound.
