Spode Archive Collection Geranium Pattern. Jumbo Cup and Saucer. Vtg. England

This beautiful vintage oversized cup and saucer was produced by Spode between 1987 and 2006 in Staffordshire England. This pattern, Geranium, was first introduced in the year 1820. During the late 20th century, there was a massive global surge in nostalgia and cottagecore aesthetics, especially across the American and German collector markets, Spode finally reproduced the Archive Collection  to save the master engravers' and to adapt to modern functionality.  Spode reshape their classic heritage artwork onto modern,consumer-friendly sizes—such as this 20 oz Jumbo breakfast cup,used for café au lait, giant soup bowls. This set features a highly deliberate mix of historic 19th-century aesthetics and sturdy late-20th-century craftsmanship. The Pelargonium (Geranium) blooms and distinctive lobed leaves are intricately embellished at the center of each piece. The design is complete with realistic shading lines from the copper plate engraving. Both the saucer rim and the cup exterior showcase a highly dense, interlocking geometric pattern reminiscent of stylized lattices or rosettes. It consists of intersecting lines forming diamond clusters with central dots. The design of cranberry red is perfect with its light ivory hue base.
