The Man Who Disappeared [DVD]
Fumiya Takahashi / Kana Kitakaze / Maki Sakai / Shota Someya / Rinko Kikuchi
An original mystery film by director Taku Mizuno, whose 2023 TV drama Brush Up Life received numerous domestic and international awards, drawing significant attention. Mizuno directed and wrote the screenplay, which depicts a mysterious apartment building where people disappear one after another, featuring unpredictable developments with carefully laid-out foreshadowing.
Maruko, a deliveryman, frequently visits an apartment building rumored to be haunted by disappearances. As he enters and exits the building daily, he uncovers the secrets of its suspicious residents. He consults his senior colleague at work, Arakawa, who aspires to be a novelist, and together they try to uncover the residents' true identities. However, before they know it, both of them become entangled in an unexpected major incident.
Fumiya Takahashi, known for Usogekijo Nikki and Teasing Master Takagi-san: The Movie, plays the protagonist Maruko. Kei Tanaka, from the Your Turn to Kill and Ossan's Love series, plays his senior colleague Arakawa.
