1895 Antique Book The Queens of England *Stories of the Lives of the Queens of England*, compiled from Agnes Strickland by Rosalie Kaufman — part of The Werner School and Family Library series, copyright 1895 by The Werner Company (Chicago/New York), originally copyrighted 1882 by Estes and Lauriat. This beautifully illustrated Victorian-era history covers the lives of England's queens from Matilda of Flanders through Katharine Parr, including Eleanora of Aquitaine, Isabella of France, Katherine of Valois, Margaret of Anjou, Elizabeth Woodville, Katharine of Arragon, Anne Boleyn, Jane Seymour, Anne of Cleves, Katharine Howard, and more. Richly illustrated throughout with engravings of castles, coronations, costumes, and portraits — including Matilda of Flanders, Anne Boleyn, Hever Castle, Windsor Castle, the Tower of London, and Hampton Court. Gilt-stamped decorative cloth cover in excellent condition — beautiful embossed floral and scroll detailing with gold lettering still vibrant. Interior pages are clean, intact, and free of tears or foxing. **Condition:** The text block has separated from the spine and is barely holding by the interior cords/threads — please see photos closely. Book is fully intact (no missing pages) but should be handled gently, and this would benefit from professional rebinding if you intend to display or read it regularly. Cover boards and gilt stamping remain in beautiful shape for their age.
