Vintage 1942 Anson City of Richmond Shield Tie Clip and Cufflinks
Anson
This neat set of a tie clip and cufflinks in a silver tone metal, made by Anson, features a shield depicting an eagle with the official seal of the City of Richmond, Virginia. Across the top is “SIC ITUR AD ASTRA.” It then depicts The Aenid, signifying heroic deeds that will make the name eternal. Along the bottom is written Courage Conviction and Consecration. Then the date, 1942, and below this, the initials TJ intertwined. In 1942, Richmond annexed several areas of land in Western Henrico county, which could be the occasion for these special pieces to be made. In good condition with some light pitting (see photos).
