Antique French Empire Silverplate Champagne Chiller Wine Cooler Lion Head

Elegant antique French Empire-style silverplate champagne chiller / wine cooler featuring beautifully sculpted lion-head ring handles, a gracefully flared body, and an elegant pedestal base. A timeless statement piece that blends seamlessly into Ralph Lauren-inspired, English country, equestrian, traditional, and old-world luxury interiors.  This exceptional chiller carries wonderful provenance, retaining its original Lux Bond Green & Stevens – Hartford / West Hartford, Connecticut jeweler’s label on the underside. According to its provenance, the piece was acquired by the prestigious jeweler during the 1970s and was already considered an antique at that time, indicating that the chiller itself predates the retailer label.  No visible manufacturer’s marks have been found, and the maker remains unknown. “French Empire” refers to the style and is not intended as an attribution to a French manufacturer.  The silverplate has developed a rich, naturally aged patina that beautifully highlights the sculptural lion-head details and antique character. It has been intentionally left unpolished so the next owner can decide whether to preserve its authentic aged appearance or polish it to a brilliant mirror-like silver finish.  For comparison purposes, I have included photographs of polished examples of this same style champagne chiller to demonstrate the beautiful luster silverplate can achieve.
