For Ray: Hokkaido-grown [Naturally Cultivated] Black Sen-goku Soybeans, 100 pieces x 10 sets

This is a dedicated page for Ray.

These are Kuro-Sengoku Daizu (Black Sengoku Soybeans) from Hokkaido, a rare variety.

They are naturally cultivated without any fertilizers or pesticides during the growing period. This variety is known for its vigorous growth and abundant yield.

Kuro-Sengoku Daizu were not originally used for food but were cultivated as green manure. In recent years, their high nutritional value compared to regular soybeans has been recognized, leading to wider cultivation.

The cultivation method is the same as regular soybeans, but despite being small, they require a slightly longer growing period. Extended daylight hours help the Kuro-Sengoku Daizu fully mature, resulting in a stronger flavor.
In Hokkaido, they are germinated in pots in April or May before the cuckoo bird's call and then transplanted to the fields. They are harvested in the fall when the pods turn brown.

To eat them, simply add them to your usual white rice and cook as you normally would. The rice will turn a light reddish color.
